Greg Busch

Greg Busch grew up in the suburban New York. Like many young children he drew incessantly, he also displayed an innate skill for draftsmanship. Although he was interested in art throughout his childhood, he began college with the intent of becoming an accountant. However, he quickly bored of the idea and found himself gravitating back to his interest in art soon thereafter transferring to SUNY College at Purchase to study Fine Arts. Though the course work in Art History was interesting, he found the courses in visual arts stifling.
It wasn’t till he moved to Venice California in the early 1990’s that he began to delve into his work with greater intensity. “Seeing the work of artists like Bill Barminski had a strong effect on me,” says Busch “I felt like I needed to get out and really experience the world around me, it heightened my perception and permitted me to let my instincts manifest themselves through my work”.
Now a resident of Florida, Busch works in a variety of mediums of which he considers himself largely self-taught. The works explore our relationships with the natural world as well as each other at various levels. Regardless of the materials, with which they are created, or Busch’s ambiguous attitude toward their meaning, the works reflect not only his virtuoso but also the quality of a craftsman.
